2.Fifty Places to Fly Fish Before You Die Hardcover
Amateur or expert, every angler dreams of landing "the big one," but that's only part of the appeal of fly fishing. Because even when hours pass without a bite, nothing beats the rugged beauty of the surroundings. For both armchair travelers and avid outdoorsmen who may have already started a checklist of their own, Fifty Places to Fly Fish Before You Die maps out the meccas of the fly-fishing world.
Through in-depth interviews with the sport's acknowledged gurus, author Chris Santella goes beyond standard guides to convey the very essence of the recommended locations. Readers can vicariously cast mouse pattners to fifty-pound taimen in the wilds of Mongolia, wrangle with wily permit off the Florida Keys, and match the hatch on Montana's Armstrong's Spring Creek. Jardines de la Reina, Cuba (tarpon), the Zhupanova River, Kamchatka (rainbow trout), and the Rio Negro, Brazil (peacock bass) are also included. The essays include a cultural and natural history of each site, along with colorful anecdotes based on the author's and authorities' experiences.
With breath-takingly-beautiful photos of the spots, many by celebrated fly-fishing photographer R. Valentine Atkinson, the book also provides adventurous anglers with enough travel-and-tackle information so that they, too, can start planning excursions to go fih around the globe.

With busy lives, it's often impossible for anglers to keep up with constantly evolving equipment. In An Angler's Guide to Smart Baits: Tips and Tactics on Fishing Twenty-First Century Artificials, veteran fisherman Angelo Peluso helps to navigate these often unsure waters of modern baits and how to fish them.
There are lots of nymphing books and videos and many of them are great resources.

Fishing is one of the oldest continually practiced pastimes in history. But like almost everything else in our modern era, it too has been greatly influenced by ever-changing technology and scientific advances.
Peluso takes readers through all the essential elements. Among the topics he explains, in depth, are: the appeal and purpose of materials used in modern lure construction, including hi-tech, durable plastics, acrylics and other polymers, and new-age finishes that give impressions of life; the modern science of both hard and soft baits; the sensory appeal of modern baits; and how to maximize a bait?s appeal to yield the most strikes and increase an angler's catch ratios. Including advice and input from expert lure designers, scientists, and manufacturers, An Angler's Guide to Smart Baits is an essential read for every modern fisherman.
5. Dynamic Nymphing: Tactics, Techniques, and Flies from Around the World
What I like about this book is the nature of "dynamic nymphing" ie it doesn't teach one method or technique but a dynamic approach to applying the right technique to the situation at hand. Too many times you find a guide who has the "magic" figured out, their special fly, their special rig, etc. These are often good but what you generally find is it is the experience and they adapt to the situation. This book helps you understand how to adapt to the situation.
In a relatively short period of time you get to understand gear, setup, technique, patterns, and approach. Bottom line is this has made me a better trout fisher and if you are going to catch fish with some consistency, you need to be able to nymph as one of your tools.
'I cannot tell you how impressed I am with George Daniel's latest book... I am struck not just at the author's all encompassing knowledge of the milieu of nymphing, but also his ability to put into words the often subtle nuances of the method. Clearly, though I've never spent time on the water with the man, he must possess some Houdini-type fishing prowess!... To be fair, this title will likely not be for everyone, most particularly those who are perfectly happy fishing a brace of Copper John's beneath a tennis ball-sized indicator in every situation they encounter. Frankly, those people are to be envied; but for the rest of us compulsive types who want to know all the whys, and hows, Dynamic Nymphing is "must" reading...". Fly Fisherman magazine, USA
